Today the conversation will not be entirely on the main topic of the cruise blog, but it will concern business. And more precisely, about one of the necessary tools – a computer. True, everything is fine with my desktop PC, but the laptop began to slow down terribly. The HDD is exhausted. And there is not enough RAM for modern programs.
I first looked at what is currently available on the market. Yes, it’s nice to look at good and powerful hardware, beautiful design, low weight and modern technologies in laptops. But the price is steep. To be honest, the priorities are different now and there is no desire to allocate about 100 thousand rubles from the budget. And I don’t need a laptop very often.
Firstly, this is my backup option if something happens to my desktop PC. Several years ago, I worked part-time on a collective farm as a parking lot watchman.
Sitting around for days without doing anything is not for me! The laptop helped with work and just to pass the time. I also sometimes take my laptop with me on trips.
And in the winter I was in the hospital. I wasn’t sad, but I was very annoyed by my old man. Only the operating system loaded for 5-6 minutes. Then there are problems with programs, browser, etc.
Laptop upgrade
So I decided to make a small upgrade to my HP laptop. The asking price is 5,000 rubles and it flies! I would like to point out right away that I do not play with toys. I consider this a waste of time.
That’s why I don’t need a gaming machine! And for modern video editors, Photoshop will be quite enough for this laptop upgrade.
Hard disk SSD
I have experience switching from an HDD to an SSD. I changed it at one time on a desktop PC. The difference is simply huge. The system starts to work very quickly and this is noticeable to the naked eye.
Since I was going to buy a new laptop anyway, I didn’t choose super SSD drives. On the advice of a friend and personal experience, I purchased a 120 GB disk from the well-known manufacturer CRUCIAL.
The form factor allows you to replace the old HDD with an SSD drive without problems. The dimensions and fasteners are the same, even a schoolboy can handle it. I’ll leave the HDD as a storage device. After removing the DVD drive, the disc is secured to this place using special slides (purchased separately).
Again, nothing complicated, all fastenings are the same.
RAM RAM
In my case, the HP laptop was initially equipped with an additional slot for a second memory stick. I didn’t have to invent anything, I just found a board with exactly the same configuration and inserted it into the slot.
I have a 4 GB memory module type DDR3L low-voltage power supply. I found and purchased a second one with the same characteristics, from the manufacturer PATRIOT. Now 8 GB of RAM is enough for my needs.

If you need a good laptop, then you can revive your old one quite inexpensively. I repeat that it is not suitable for modern games. Everything else will please you for a very long time.
And the price of the upgrade will depend on your appetites. I kept it to 5,000 rubles. If you contact a specialist, then in addition to spare parts, you will have to pay for the work, installation of a new operating system and the programs you need. I don’t know how much it will cost, each master has his own appetites.
