I’ve been using the YI 4K action camera for almost 2 years, and I even wrote an article about this compact travel video camera. And although it has quite good built-in electronic stabilization, it seemed to me not enough. For a cinematic and smooth picture, whatever one may say, you need a good three-axis manual stabilizer. And I found this FeiyuTech G6.
Tons of videos had to be reviewed and filtered in order to find a stabilizer that was time-tested, had good reviews and was suitable for my tasks. There was only one doubt – whether it would be compatible with the YI 4K? action camera. Many FeiyuTech G6 owners wrote in the comments and said in videos that they couldn’t connect the Steadicam to the YI 4K via Wi-Fi. Only one comment calmed me down a little, it sounded like this: you can already “connect” these 2 devices with each other, new firmware has been released. And I took a risk. I really liked him.
FeiyuTech G6 Steadicam
Steadicam – a manual, portable stabilization system for shooting in motion. Such a system ensures smooth transitions, smooths out shocks and jumps when walking, running, going up and down stairs, riding a bicycle, etc.
I ordered the FeiyuTech G6 Steadicam on Aliexpress in the official Fairy store, which is what users and fans affectionately call this company. We must pay tribute to FeiyuTech for the constant improvement of models and the release of new steadicams.
The courier delivered the stabilizer to my apartment, for which I am very grateful to the delivery man. By the way, I had to wait less than a week. It’s a pleasure to buy!

Additionally, I ordered a small tripod from the same company, and the mounting frame for the GoPro 8 camera came with the load. What if it comes in handy.
Operating modes of the FeiyuTech G6 stabilizer
FeiyuTech G6 handheld gimbal stabilizer shoots in the following modes:
- Free flight
- Hold horizon
- Object tracking
- Selfie mode
- Time lapse at specified points in space
The names of the modes are different in the original, I wrote them in my own words. All these modes will completely satisfy the lover of shooting video on an action camera.
What cameras can be installed on the FeiyuTech G6
Steadicam
In terms of form factor, a large number of action camera models are suitable here, but not all of them will be able to establish a connection with a Steadicam. And this, of course, limits the capabilities of the stabilizer. Although you can use it.
Through the proprietary FeiyuTech application, we’ll talk about it below, you can synchronize the following action cameras via Wi-Fi
- Gopro Hero 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
- Sony RX0 (with custom adapter)
- Yi 4k
- SJCAM some models
These models are fully synchronized with the stabilizer and smartphone according to the diagram in the figure.

Download the application using the QR code in the instructions. It can:
- Control the hand stabilizer,
- Update firmware,
- Connect camera
- Switch modes
- Control the power of motors
- Configure the joystick
- Change time lapse
With such capabilities it is very convenient to shoot from a distance using only the application. Put the camera on a tripod and control it as you please.
Appearance of the stabilizer
This device is made of very high quality. The lightweight aluminum body with a rubberized handle is pleasant to the touch and fits comfortably in the hand. All control buttons are where you need them. Shooting with a stabilizer is done with 1-2 fingers. Practical, comfortable and functional.
The Steadicam weighs 336 g without battery, dimensions 271 mm * 119 mm * 38 mm. The stabilizer is protected from splashes, rain, and snow, but it cannot be completely submerged under water!
Installed action cameras should weigh no more than 130g.
2 holes with standard thread for photographic equipment. One at the bottom end for mounting on a tripod or tripod. The second one is on the side for attaching a smartphone (fasteners must be purchased separately).
Power supply for FeiyuTech G6 stabilizer
The stabilizer contains a fairly powerful 26650 3.6 V battery, with a capacity of as much as 5000 mAh. My YI 4K action camera only has 1400 mAh when fully charged.
The manufacturer of the FeiyuTech G6 stabilizer took this nuance into account and supplied a powerful battery. Moreover, the camera can be recharged directly from it. Together, this couple will allow you to shoot videos much longer. And this makes me very happy too!
I plan to soon make a short video review and test of the FeiyuTech G6 manual three-axis stabilizer, but for now we’re watching a colleague from Ukraine.

For my tasks, namely — For shooting on sea cruises and regular trips, the FeiyuTech G6 steadicam is quite suitable. Light weight and size plus multi-faceted functionality make this stabilizer one of the best in this category.
