The third day in Mauritius was the day of departure for our cruise to the islands of the Indian Ocean. The liner departed at 21:00, which meant that we had the whole day ahead. We chose an excursion to perhaps one of the most beautiful and popular places on the island of Mauritius – the peninsula Lemorne. Full name Le Morne Brabant (French: Le Morne Brabant).
The day before, we went on an excursion to Casela Park and Chamarel Falls. I liked the spacious minibus with climate control. It is very convenient and fast to travel in heat of 30 degrees in such a car. We agreed with the driver today. The price is approximately 88 euros for almost the whole day.

Our excursion to the Lemorne Peninsula
Beautiful views and decent winds attract a lot of surfers.
Small schools of dolphins can often be seen not far from the shore in the mornings.
All together, including popularity, ultimately determined our choice:
— We definitely have to see this!
A half-kilometer-high rock rises majestically above this peninsula.
It gained fame in the 19th century, when several shelter caves of fugitive slaves were found.
A huge beach encircles the peninsula.
Since our boat trip started at 7 am, he had to arrive at 6.20. You need to check out from the hotel at 11.
We could have agreed to leave our luggage at the hotel, but we would have had to go back for it.
And then in the morning we loaded our suitcases and went.
After lunch, he took us straight to the cruise port.
Beauty, and that’s all.
Sea trip and meeting with dolphins.
Initially, the plan described above did not exist. But there was great desire to take a boat ride, swim with dolphins and admire views from the water. It’s always very beautiful! No sooner said than done!
30 minutes on the morning road and we are there. Us Young guys greet you and help you get on board. And now we are already flying along the waves of the morning ocean.
A Creole guy asked me if we would dive?
To be honest, at 7 am there was no particular desire. Although the temperature of both water and air was about 27 degrees.
Apparently my reflex was holding me back; we certainly wouldn’t have gone swimming on the Volga this early. ))
Dolphins
Approximately a kilometer away from the shore we see other boats circling at low speed in different places. They were attracted by small schools of dolphins.
We also found “our kind.” Of course, dolphins do not stand in one place for a long time; the captain has to constantly move from place to place. And we meet other schools of dolphins.
But the thought that such an opportunity would not present itself in Mauritius again did its job. Moreover, I was preparing for this.
Remember, I wrote that I bought a compact video camera? It with the aquabox accessory is designed for underwater shooting.
I decided to do my first dive without a camera. Look around and check visibility underwater. But in vain! It was on my first dive that I got lucky. I watched the dolphin at arm’s length. I hope you understand, that these are not dolphins trained in a water park, but completely wild ones.
And it was like that. Having dived, I clearly saw three dolphins. Two hovered below me near the bottom, and the third was directly opposite. He turned to me and I caught his eye. We both froze. Maybe 5 seconds passed, but it seemed to me that we were staring at each other for about 10 minutes.
Oh, how I regretted not taking my camera with me. All My subsequent dives with her were in vain. Dolphins are more like this I was not given the opportunity.
Snorkeling
Then we swam towards the shore, enjoying the sun peeking out from behind Mount Lemorne.
Let me tell you the views are simply unique!
We swam to some beach with palm trees, where corals grew at shallow depths.
True, as in most places on the island, they were already dead.
But, nevertheless, life was in full swing among them. Fish of different sizes and colors, sea urchins in very clear water became the subjects of my photography.
We ourselves, like children, basked in this beautiful place, along the way watching the underwater world. You can see all this in the video below.
Lemorne Beach
Three hours flew by like 3 minutes. We were brought back to Lemorne public beach, where they planned to relax for an hour until 4 days.
A huge number of surfers were enjoying their favorite pastime.
I already wrote above that the wind on Lemorne beach is quite strong, although it is not particularly felt on the shore.
It was Saturday, and busloads of locals came to Lemorne. Relaxing on the beach for them is something different than for us.
They sit in the shade, with richly laid tables, someone sings himself, someone had music playing, and I saw people dancing. But no one is swimming. It turns out that 80% of the population cannot swim at all. The government even launched a free swimming training program.
It was strange for us, of course, but we watched them with pleasure and great interest. And they themselves were having so much fun that they forgot about sun protection. In the morning, as soon as we smeared ourselves, we thought it was enough. After swimming, apparently everything was washed away.
In short, my wife and I received a decent dose of sun, so much so that we shed in the following days.
Already before leaving, it became clear that retribution for neglecting the southern sun would soon come. Where to Get Help for Sunburn — that’s all we were thinking about at that moment.

We just wandered around this heavenly place with a camera, enjoyed nature and took unforgettable pictures.

In the meantime, we walked along the nearby beach of a luxury hotel. The territory is private and the security guard did not allow us to sit on the sand.
All good things come to an end. He came for us car and we went to the cruise port, which is located in the capital Mauritius islands, Port Louis city.
An hour and a half on the road. I was dozing. The port does not have a terminal at in the usual way. There’s just a huge tent where the passengers of the ship check in and control.
We checked into our room, went out to eat, and met our friends who arrived on the day of departure. These were the partners of our InCruises club. Valyusha Trush, we know her well, we’ve already been on a cruise together, and her girls Tatyana and Galina.
