It’s very difficult for me to begin to describe, perhaps, the most exotic and the most incredible trip of my life. For now time this is really true. Every place we’ve been has left such vivid and strong impressions that they simply blow your mind.
A cruise around the Indian Ocean islands cannot stand on a par with the previous two. These are completely different sensations, comfort and pleasure. But I clearly understand that this must be done and therefore I begin my story.
It will consist of several articles, so stock up patience and attention. As usual, my blog articles will be accompanied by the best photographs and videos.
Mauritius
The first island where we arrived was this island nation – Mauritius. It is located in the Indian Ocean near the island of Madagascar, southeastern Africa.
At different times the island was a colony of Holland, France, England and only in 1968 it gained independence and became a state. Basic French language.
How long to fly to Mauritius Island
I must note that the path to the fairytale island is not close. AND those who are planning to visit this paradise of our planet should be prepared for a multi-hour flight.
We flew from Samara first to Moscow, then to Rome and then from there to Mauritius. To understand the time we spent on board the aircraft I’m reporting these numbers:
Samara – Moscow = 1.5 hours.
Moscow – Rome = 4 hours
Rome – Mauritius = 10 hours
The flight time is indicated in round numbers. And of course transfers take some time.
We chose the optimal transit with minimal wait, but, nevertheless, the total travel time took about a day.
It was then that we fully felt the comfort of the plane on the next long-distance flight. Before this, we had never made such long flights.
I always plan a budget before a trip, so I already knew in advance how much Mauritian rupees we would need for excursions and meals.
Airport o. Mauritius
A small but modern airport greeted us hospitably. We quickly received our luggage and exchanged money for local currency here.
Transfer
The service did not let us down either, where we always pre-order a transfer to the hotel or seaport. It’s always on time, comfortable and reliable. For four of us we paid 48$, and local taxi drivers ask for 80 euros.
Then it took about an hour to cross the island to our apartment. This is our first experience of this kind; we usually book a hotel. After studying all the reviews, we chose the village area Flic en Flac. One of the most popular places in Mauritius.
It’s not far from here to the capital Port Louis, local attractions and the most beautiful beaches. Yes, in fact, this place itself is very beautiful. Everyone was pleased with the choice.
Hotel on the island of Mauritius
I liked the apartment, no frills, but quite comfortable and inexpensive. For four people, two bedrooms and a large living room-studio are enough. The beach, which is across the road, is about 60-80 meters away.

Beach
After checking in, run to the beach. Don’t forget about sun protection, you can get sunburned even in cloudy weather. The first two days we did not forget about them; you will read what happened later in the following articles.
The beach near the hotel pleased with its relative cleanliness. The fact is that the needles from local trees that grow mixed with palm trees slightly clog the fine, pleasant-to-touch sand.
The entry into the ocean is also good in the sense that there are no shallow waters, but there are a lot of sea urchins. Safety shoes for swimming are a must! Even the “corrals” didn’t save me. Apparently he stepped on the hedgehog at a right angle, and one needle still pierced the shoe.
Thankfully we met a nice couple from Tula, Olga and Anton. They arrived with us on the same day and moved into our neighborhood at the same time.
Experienced divers have encountered this problem more than once.
On their advice, I steamed my leg in the evening and my personal doctor and surgeon Svetlana took out a piece of needle with nail tweezers.
Literally a day later I forgot about this problem. But this could greatly ruin my vacation.

Power
After the beach I wanted to eat. We decided to go to the local supermarket. The four of us and our new friends went to look for a store. By On the way we talked and got to know the area. The grocery store was about 500 meters away.
We had to live for three days in a beautiful place on the island of Mauritius.
And what kind of sunsets are there …
Beyond words.
We stocked up on food, didn’t forget about beer and local rum.
We celebrated our arrival in the evening.
We even went swimming at night in the hotel pool.
This is how our first day went on the exotic island of Mauritius. There were still two very adventurous days left before departure on the cruise.
On the second day of our stay, we decided to visit the Chamarel waterfall, Kazela park on the island of Mauritius.
