Getting my first experience on a Mediterranean cruise, I noticed how people see the sights of the cities they visit. Simply put, how do you choose excursions when going ashore at the next port?
And although I prepared in advance and looked for what would be best to visit in this or that city in Europe, I simply didn’t know about booking an excursion in advance. And this is not only convenient, but in some cases even more profitable.
We stupidly went out to the port square, where excursion taxis and buses stand, negotiated with the guides or directly with the drivers about the cost and off we went. Or they boarded red buses and followed the route of the sightseeing tour. But now I decided to act a little differently.

Getting ready for the next sea cruise, I began to prepare more thoroughly! I visited various thematic forums, blogs of fellow travelers, read reviews from tourists and became more and more immersed in this fabulous atmosphere of travel. I gained invaluable experience, which I want to share with you, dear reader.
I have already purchased all the excursions to the cities we will visit as part of the upcoming cruise in Northern Europe. In almost all cases, when booking an excursion online, the cost is significantly lower than if we bought it at the landing site. A small thing, but nice.

Our cruise route includes such an English city as Southampton. It’s only an hour and a half by train from London. It would be a crime on my part to miss the opportunity to visit such a famous and ancient city in Europe.

We bought train tickets from Southampton to London for about 25 euros return + a tour with a Russian guide on the above service for 180 euros. For 4 people, it came out to 45 euros per brother. Total we have:
- 70 euros for each, not 130 dollars as originally planned
- Four-hour sightseeing tour of London in the company of a compatriot.
The benefit is obvious!
