Last time we looked at what types of cabins there are on a cruise ship. Do you think there is a difference between cabins at the bow, stern or in the center of the ship? Does your comfort depend on the height of the deck? Of course – yes!
Quiet living largely depends on the location of the cabin on the ship. Noises and shaking can ruin your vacation, but for those who like to watch beautiful views from the balcony, there are some “surprises.” It’s worth learning about all the nuances on shore and not making mistakes when buying a cruise. In this case, your journey will be most enjoyable.
Which place on the ship is best to choose a cabin
Even an expensive cabin does not guarantee the absence of problems. You should study the ship’s plan in detail and make an informed decision. What you need to pay attention to:
- Neighborhood to a particular establishment (noise),
- Distance to elevator,
- Deck number (above, below),
- Bow or stern of the liner (shaking)
Noises in the cabin
It is generally accepted that the higher the deck, the better. This is not true in all cases. Imagine if your cabin is located under the central pool, a place where a huge number of people gather. In the evening you can hear the noise of loud parties, and in the morning the service guys are hastily putting out sun loungers.
It’s the same story with bars and other entertainment venues. If peace in the evening is important to you, then such a neighborhood is of no use to you. The best in this regard are considered to be cabins that have living quarters on the sides, top and bottom.
Discomfort from engine noise and slight shaking during mooring can be felt in the cabins located on the lower decks of the stern and bow of the liner. At the front of the ship are the thrusters, and at the back is the engine room and main propellers.
Distance from the elevator
Modern cruise ships have a large area of both entertainment and living spaces. There is nothing particularly pleasant about wandering through the corridors in search of an elevator. If you are not young and do not want to waste energy on such walks, then choose a cabin closer to the elevator.
Which cabins have less motion sickness
Each liner is equipped with innovative, state-of-the-art equipment, including anti-rolling equipment. But nevertheless, it is impossible to completely get rid of it. Each person experiences this impact individually.
If, after all, your body reacts very sensitively to pitching, then choose a cabin in the middle of the ship on the lower decks. In this place the ship is most resistant to both pitching and roll.
Which side of the ship is better to choose a cabin
No difference at all. It is impossible to guess which side, right or left, the liner will moor in a particular port. Often the ship heads straight towards the city, then the port and surroundings are clearly visible from both sides.
Good view from the balcony
If you choose this type of cabin, you won’t spoil your mood. Take this issue seriously. After all, the beautiful view from the balcony depends on the location of your cabin on the ship. Otherwise, why was it worth spending money on??
The fact is that there are cabins with limited or partially limited views. The design of many ships has external recesses where lifeboats with launching mechanisms are located on the lower deck. Looking at them will not give you much pleasure. They cost less than the same ones, but are higher in deck. Many people unknowingly fall for the company’s marketing ploy and buy them.
In the cabins with a balcony above, the direct view is much better, but if you look down, the same boats will delight your gaze.
Cabins located on ledges are considered the ideal option. The view from the balcony there is pleasing to the eye both forward and down to the sea. Click on the picture.
Please note!
Some ships have a staircase-like structure, where you can watch the lower decks from the balconies of the upper decks. Which is unlikely to please anyone.
For example, the Crown Princess liner. The photo shows that passengers on the three decks above can see what is happening on the balconies of the mini-suites.
And finally the worst cabins on decks 8 and 9 of the Norwegian Epic. Not only do people have a limited view of the boats, but they are also being watched from above.
Output
The quality of your vacation depends on the location of the cabin on the ship! My advice is this – do not neglect studying the ship’s plan. Wearly evaluate all the nuances and make the right choice for yourself and your cruise will be remembered for a long time!
