In the last review we looked at the Grand Voyage and Europe cruise to Egypt. Today is a slightly similar route, but a completely different class of ship. We offer you the cruise “Grand Voyage from Europe to the UAE” on MSC Virtuosa, which starts in the port of Civitavecchia (Rome) and ends in Dubai. The entire journey will take 17 nights/18 days.
This cruise has a Russian-speaking group, that is, with a sufficient number of Russian passengers — Excursions in Russian are available. The journey is interesting not along the standard route (piece goods). Transfer of the MSC Virtuosa liner for the winter period to the waters of the Persian Gulf, where the “Pearls of the Persian Gulf” cruise will operate.
Itinerary of the cruise “Grand Voyage from Europe to the UAE”
Most tourists fly to Rome in advance and stay in hotels for some time. This eliminates the hassle of a flight delay and gives you the opportunity to explore the sights of an ancient European city. We recommend that you do the same.
The voyage begins in the city of Civitavecchia, which is located near Rome and is one of the largest ports in Italy.
You can start your sightseeing at Fort Michelangelo, built in the 16th century. This architectural monument is considered a symbol of the city, separated from it by walls, in one of which there is a fountain made of white Vanvitelli limestone in the form of the head of a faun with a mysterious look.
Not far from the walls are the gates of Porto Livorno and the ancient baths of Taurina. At the moment, you can only see ancient buildings and visit the Ficoncella spa complex with healing waters. One day is also enough to visit the Cathedral of St. Francis and the Church of Sant’Agostino, and get acquainted with the range of shops in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele.
What to see in Naples
The next city on the route is Naples. The duration of parking in the city of contrasts is 11 hours. Despite the presence of more than a thousand churches, tourists are attracted by Mount Vesuvius and the ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. The first has been practically restored, the second is regularly excavated, and the ruins are quite intact. In second place is the Royal Palace with the National Library, the Hall of Hercules and the Throne Room.
9 hours in the city of Piraeus
Piraeus — This is a port in Athens, essentially the most important in Greece. Tourists are attracted here by Dion Park, which is essentially an outdoor museum. The ruins are well complemented by wild nature.
It is also worth visiting the monument to the Church of the Holy Trinity, built of marble, the Art Gallery with works by artists of different eras, including modern ones, the highest point of the city, Castella Hill with marvelous sea views.
The most interesting things in Heraklion
In 11 hours you can explore not only the Venetian harbor, built in the 17th century, but also the Kules fortress, similar to modern scenery. The guides tell a lot of interesting things about historical events and preserved premises.
It is worth paying attention to the Church of St. Titus on August 25 Street, built more than a thousand years ago, the Venetian Loggia with a park, and the Morosini lion fountain. The Palace of Knossos with its labyrinth of the Minotaur, which was defeated by the legendary Theseus, is extremely popular.
Safaga Resort
The main attraction is the 16th century Egyptian port, followed by Pharaoh’s Harbor (a popular walking spot). If you wish, you can visit Tobia Island with coral reefs and huge sea turtles.
11 hours in Jordan
Aqaba is one of the ancient cities not only of this region, but also of the world heritage in general. In addition to the main attraction — city of Petra, tourists are shown a square Castle (Clam Fort), decorated with medieval inscriptions. As well as the nearby Archaeological Museum with Bronze Age artifacts.
Cruise ship MSC Virtuosa
After Jordan you will walk by sea non-stop for 5 whole days. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere of the Italian cruise ship MSC Virtuosa.
The most interesting things in Muscat, Oman
Muscat is one of the most beautiful capitals of the Arab world. Tourists are attracted by the oldest part of the city, located near the port, with the Sultan’s palace. One day is enough to visit it, in addition to the colorful markets of Muttrah.
Dubai
After a day at sea, the liner arrives in the capital of the UAE — Dubai. The cruise from Europe to the Emirates ends here. You can go home or visit unique parks of flowers and butterflies, the “World Village”, the Kingdom of Selfies, the Palace of Illusions, and the Lake of Love. We recommend choosing excursions around Dubai on the website and enjoying the atmosphere of the east.
The incredible passage of the liner from Rome to Dubaicovers a huge part of the Mediterranean, the Red Sea basin and the Persian Gulf. If you wish, you can extend your trip on the same ship, but along the route «Pearls of the Persian Gulf«.
