Sea cruise “Sunny Mediterranean”

The Mediterranean Sea, where the most popular cruise routes pass, can be divided into three directions. Western Mediterranean (Classical) — this is, as a rule, eastern Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, and the Canary Islands. Central Mediterranean — western Italy, Croatia, Greece. Eastern Mediterranean — islands of Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Israel.

Today we will learn in more detail about one route from them — this is a sea cruise “Sunny Mediterranean”. The name itself says that the route will pass through the southeastern European part of the Mediterranean Sea. And this means only one thing — there will be a lot of sun, warm sea and a wonderful summer mood.

Cruise route and ship

The first thing that will please you — variety of departure ports. You can board a ship both in Greece, the port of Piraeus, and in Turkey, the port of Kusadasi, in Israel, the port of Haifa, and, if convenient, in Cyprus, the port of Limassol. Turkish Airlines will deliver to any of these cities, and if you still have free air tickets, your mood will rise even more.

After arriving in Athens, it is easy to get to the neighboring town of Piraeus. There you will board the cruise ship and we will consider this the first day of the trip.

In the morning you will arrive on the wonderful Greek island Santorini. You’ve most likely already seen photographs of white houses with blue roofs that are located on the tops of small cliffs. These landscapes have become the hallmarks of many cruise routes.

You can look for what to see and where to visit on this beautiful island on your own, or take advantage of the excursions offered on the ship.

Turkey will meet you on the morning of the third day of the cruise at the port Kusadasi. The city is located on the coast of the Aegean Sea, how can you not go for a swim? There are beautiful beaches near the ports, but the water there is not very good. But if you drive close to the port, you can find yourself on the “Ladies Beach”; the beach is 3 km away. You can get there by dolmus (minibus) to the Ladies Beach stop.

Kusadasi is close to world famous attractions:

  • House of the Blessed Virgin Mary;
  • The ancient city of Ephesus

I recommend taking excursions there, I was both there and I really liked it.

After lunch the ship will moor to another beautiful Greek island Mykonos. A lot of history lies in the streets of the capital Chora. There are about 360 churches on the island, and the famous white windmills will delight the eye. The Archaeological Museum has preserved items of Roman culture from the 6th-7th centuries BC

And as you probably already guessed, the “Sunny Mediterranean” cruise will end in the port of Piraeus, Greece.

The ship is sailing along a circular route. Depending on the departure city in which you boarded it, then as described above, only the order of days will change.

What visas are required

The trip covers such countries as: Greece, Israel, Turkey, Cyprus. All of them are, to one degree or another, countries friendly to Russia, and you only need a Greek multiple-entry visa (Schengen). The Greek authorities willingly issue it, since tourists come not only for a cruise, but also for a beach (seal) vacation.
